1 1/3 c whole wheat pastry flour
1 c chopped walnuts
1 c cold butter, cut in small pieces
1 2 T sugar or turbinado sugar
1/2 c brown sugar
1/2 c vegetable oil (or lard)
2 2/3 c all purpose flour
2 eggs
2 tsp lemon zest
3 T brandy
3 T sugar
4 – 5 C apples, peeled and sliced ¼ ½”, enough to fill your pie pan, mixed with
¼ c heavy cream
¼ tsp ginger
½ 1 c ice water
½ c buttermilk
½ c sour cream or plain yogurt
½ tsp nutmeg
