"Miss Mary Loyd's" Dinner Rolls

  • 1 egg
  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup softened butter or vegetable shortening
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 11/2 cups hot tap water
  • 4 cups all purpose flour (Miss Mary Loyd specified Gold Medal or Pillsbury, so that's what I use)
